Through his work, Bennett became passionate about commercial real estate and the use of technology to identify energy savings opportunities. He has spent the previous 10 years researching, acquiring, and operating commercial buildings while trying to make the process more efficient by leveraging innovative trends and business concepts.

Bennett received his B.A. in Economics from the Johns Hopkins University and an M.B.A. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management where he met Retroficiency Co-Founder Bryan Long.

Bryan Long
CTO & Co-Founder

Bryan Long is responsible for overseeing development of Retroficiency’s on-demand Building Efficiency Intelligence platform and ensuring development is closely aligned with Retroficiency’s vision and strategy. Previously, Bryan spent ten years working for the U.S. government at the Volpe Center, a research and development facility, where he deployed an international network that allowed more than 50 countries to share maritime information in real-time. Bryan was responsible for the complete life cycle of the software, including accreditation within the US Navy. Prior to that, Bryan co-founded Cadimus Technologies, which produced a digital jukebox for use in high-end home entertainment systems.

Bryan received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Northeastern University and an M.B.A. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management where he met Retroficiency Co-Founder Bennett Fisher.

Karim Bibawi, CEM, LEED AP
COO

Karim Bibawi is responsible for managing service and support operations and ensuring the success of the company’s customers. He is a clean energy entrepreneur and executive with more than 20 years experience managing growth stage organizations. Karim is passionate about bringing disruptive technologies to market and scaling organizations. Prior to joining Retroficiency, Karim was President of the energy efficiency division (known as Clean Energy Solutions or CES) of Nexamp, which was acquired by Retroficiency. Prior to entering the clean energy field, Karim was an executive at Sapient Corporation, a global business technology consulting firm. He played various roles including Managing Director and Country Manager of Sapient’s businesses in Tokyo, Japan and Milan, Italy. During Karim’s 10 years at Sapient, the firm grew from 300 people to 4000+ people worldwide.

Karim holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Hugh Gaasch
Vice President, Energy Efficiency

Hugh Gaasch is responsible for development of Retroficiency’s on-demand Building Efficiency Intelligence platform as it relates to mining building energy use interval data to identify savings opportunities for customers. He has worked with utilities and other service providers for more than 20 years. Hugh’s innovative, market-tested software IP enables utilities and others to cost-effectively prioritize high potential commercial buildings and identify low and no cost efficiency improvements, while only needing a building’s address and utility interval data. Previously, Hugh founded iEnergyData where he pioneered the idea of mining interval data to identify energy efficiency opportunities. Prior to that, Hugh served as Chief Engineer, Energy Efficiency Group at NSTAR Electric & Gas where he was responsible for the technical aspects of implementing energy efficiency, including risk-assessments, and sensitivity analyses on projected energy savings exceeding 100 million kWh savings across roughly 1,000+ projects on a per year basis. Hugh also served as President at Lenticular Solutions Inc. where he ran a consultancy specializing in technical and strategic solutions for energy management and process optimization.

Hugh holds a B.S. and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

Richard Huntley
Vice President, Sales

Richard Huntley leads sales at Retroficiency and is responsible for developing the company’s key customer relationships. Richard joined Retroficiency with the acquisition of the energy efficiency division (known as Clean Energy Solutions or CES) of Nexamp, where he was responsible for all aspects of sales. During his career Richard has worked with energy companies on four continents covering energy efficiency, utility operations, and demand response. Prior to joining Nexamp, Richard was Vice President and Practice Leader for Energy Conservation and Demand Response at Vertex. Read more…

Earlier in his career, Richard held multiple executive positions with Nexus Energy Software (Aclara), a pioneer in software based energy efficiency; and SPL WorldGroup (Oracle), a leader in utility customer management. Both companies grew significantly from small early stage companies through to subsequent acquisition.

Paul Gagne
Vice President, Software Development

Paul Gagne leads the software development team at Retroficiency. He oversees development of Retroficiency’s on-demand Building Efficiency Intelligence platform and ensures development is closely aligned with Retroficiency’s vision and strategy. Read more…
